"London 2012" transformation plans for East London depended on
creating the biggest parkland attempted in Britain for over a century.
Bioengineering techniques has been used to increase biodiversity and
to replace hard engineering solutions. Salix provided over 380,000
wetland plants in coir pallets, in order to protect the river banks
from erosion and to increase biodiversity.

ESWEG meeting in Barcelona

During the group meeting held in Spain, the president of the ESWEG
group David Holland, Technical Director from Salix River and Wetlands
was interviewed for a TV news report during a visit in a job site of
the restoration project at Tenas River in Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana
near Barcelona. The project is especially noted for the innovation of
the bioengineering techniques used. Aquanea have worked as a
specialist in the project design and implementation.
